LEADERSHIP
CANbodia has assembled a dynamic leadership team with decades of Canadian and international experience (including Cambodia) in exploration, mine development and operation, as well as expertise in international copper and capital markets, and corporate governance.
Gavan Gillespie:
Gavan has participated as a founder of several private oil and gas companies with operations in Canada and internationally. Initially on the Board of Directors of all these companies and subsequently as the Vice President of Land, Gavan was involved in all the management and fund-raising activities for those ventures. Most recently Gavan was one of the founders of Shale Petroleum Ltd. Shale raised investments of over $90 million dollars to drill high risk; high reward exploration horizontal wells in southern Alberta’s complex Foothills structure zone on the edge of the Rockies. In 2022 Shale was acquired in a three-way transaction to form part of a public company restructuring. Prior to that Gavan has a long career in development of joint venture opportunities in the Western Canadian Sedimentary basin with public and private oil and gas companies.
Cory Smith:
With over three decades of entrepreneurial experience, Cory has established a successful track record across multiple industries. As the owner of a sandblasting company for 33 years, Cory has developed extensive expertise in both the oil and gas and water treatment sectors, delivering high-quality services to industrial clients. In addition to this long-standing business, Cory has spent the last 4 years leading a company in the transportation sector, further expanding his operational and leadership capabilities. With a deep understanding of business development, Cory has been involved in start-up ventures for over 15 years, honing the ability to navigate new opportunities and drive growth in emerging markets.
Mark Kuzio:
With over 15 years of experience as the Principal of a design-build firm, Mark has successfully led teams in architectural design, budgeting, client relations, and construction management. His work has been recognized for balancing creative vision with practical execution and gained a reputation for delivering high- quality projects. In addition to his work in design and construction, he owned and directed multiple fitness studios. Currently, he serves as Principal of a real estate development firm, overseeing a wide range of development projects from concept to completion. In parallel, he is actively involved in a flourishing publishing company, continuing to expand his expertise across diverse business landscapes, blending strategic insight with creative leadership. With diverse expertise and leadership across different industries, he remains committed to financial literacy, and creative, forward-thinking solutions to deliver impactful results in every venture he undertakes.
